Hello,
the posts you’ve been reading here, in the past couple of weeks, have all been leading up to tomorrow - when things will change.
I am very excited about this.
After the Diary starts, it will be less pushy, more intimate. And I can’t say that won’t be a relief. Self-promotion is not what this is about. It’s about working toward a new way of writing - more responsive, more vivid.
I am quite terrified about this.
I’ll be letting people know about the Diary, by tweeting and blogging elsewhere, but the entries themselves should run without too many interruptions.
As I said before, it’ll be as if you’re hovering behind me, reading the words I write as I write them.
What this means is that, if the Diary is to work, and be read by enough people to pick up momentum, then it will have to spread by word of mouth.
If you like something you read in it - a sentence, or a whole chunk - please do share it with friends, family, anyone.
Please let them know, today, that the launch is tomorrow. If they want to be in from the start, so they can say they were in from the start, they should sign up now. (Still for free.)
I hope there will be lots in here that writers, and people who are curious about writers, can recognise, can feel.
At the end of each month, on the Friday, I’ll be here for a Q&A. This will run through the discussion thread under a special Grab-bag post. But after March, it will just be for paid subscribers.
The first of the Inserted Pages appeared yesterday, and these will continue - again, for paid subscribers.
Everything else, for the first few months, will be here for you to read, reread, share.
All the previous posts here, apart from a general introduction (How’s It Going to Work), will migrate across to my other blog.
I wish you a very Happy and Healthy New Year,
Toby
